Privacy Policy

PaintTap (“we”, “us”) operates an exterior-paint estimator at painttap.app and in our mobile apps. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using PaintTap, you agree to this policy.

The short version:we use your photos and address to estimate your paint job. If — and only if — you choose to be matched, we share your details and photos with local contractors, who may pay us a referral fee for the introduction. You can opt out at any time.

Information we collect

  • Photos you uploadof your home's exterior, used to produce your estimate.
  • Address & location.The address, ZIP, city, and state you enter. If you tap “Use current location,” we collect your device's precise GPS location (with your permission) and convert it to an address. We may also derive approximate location from your IP address.
  • Contact & identity— name, email address, and phone number you provide.
  • Verification data.To confirm you're a real person, we verify your email (via a sign-in link) or phone (via a one-time SMS code), and store that a verification occurred and when.
  • Your estimate. The measurements, surface and condition assessment, quantities, and price range we generate for your home.
  • Technical data— device and browser type, IP address, and anonymized usage events — to operate, secure, and improve the product.

How we use it

  • Generate your fair-price estimate and the report we email or text you.
  • Verify your contact details so you receive your report and contractors reach a real person.
  • With your consent, connect you with local contractors (see below).
  • Improve our estimation models — photos may be reviewed in aggregate to calibrate accuracy.
  • Operate the service, prevent abuse and fraud, and apply rate limits.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

How we share it

With local contractors (only if you opt in)

When you choose to be matched, we share your report, contact details, address, and home photos with one or more vetted local contractors so they can follow up. We may run a real-time matching process in which limited, de-identified information(such as your ZIP and estimated price range — not your name or contact details) is offered to multiple contractors first; your full details and photos are then provided to the contractor(s) who take the lead.

Contractors may pay us a referral or lead fee for these introductions. Because this involves a transfer of personal information for value, some U.S. state laws (such as California's) may treat it as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not otherwise sell your personal information, and we never share it for third-party advertising. You can opt out of contractor matching at any time — see Your rights & choices.

With service providers

We use a small set of vendors that process data on our behalf under confidentiality and data-protection terms:

  • AI image analysis — Google (Gemini) processes your photos and location to generate the estimate.
  • Maps & geocoding — Google Maps Platform and OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) to look up and verify addresses and building footprints.
  • Email delivery — Resend.
  • SMS verification — Twilio.
  • Authentication, database & file storage — Supabase.
  • Hosting & infrastructure — Vercel.

Legal, safety & business transfers

We may disclose information to comply with the law, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Cookies & tracking

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the site, and limited analytics to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; some features (like staying signed in) need essential cookies to work.

Data retention

We keep reports and lead records for as long as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations. Photos are retained for up to 12 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Photo links shared with contractors are time-limited and expire automatically.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and time-limited, signed links for photos. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and respond promptly to any incident.

Your rights & choices

  • Access, correct, or delete your data — email privacy@painttap.app or help@painttap.app from the address you used.
  • Opt out of contractor matching (and of any “sale”/“sharing”) at any time — just ask us, or reply to any message from us.
  • Disable analytics cookies through your browser.
  • California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale/sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
  • Residents of other states or regions (including the EU/UK) may have similar rights to access, delete, port, or object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise them.

Children

PaintTap is for homeowners and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Where your data is processed

We and our service providers process data in the United States. By using PaintTap, you understand your information may be processed there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
